Quantitative specialist firm Two Sigma announced that it had closed on its Sightway Capital I with $1.2 billion in investor commitments.
For the growing $48 billion New York firm, private equity and venture capital has been a popular offshoot. Earlier this month, Two Sigma’s venture capital arm raised up to $230 million for its third fund, which reportedly was set to raise $250 million.
Two Sigma Ventures was initially a strategy for firm insiders including founders John Overdeck and David Siegel and was built out beginning in 2011 by Colin Beirne.
