The $155 billion Teachers’ Retirement System of Texas has allocated $500 million to be split between three private equity funds, and officials are slowly making their way toward 14% of total assets as part of the implementation of a new strategic asset allocation.
The new asset allocation boosted private equity to 14% from 13% of total assets over the summer to ultimately total approximately $22 billion – keeping the asset class the second largest one in Texas Teachers’ program that has $67 billion in public equity investments.
