Slate to lean on data science, machine learning with new hire

Matt Edgar has joined Slate Asset Management’s London office in the newly created role of chief technology officer.

The C$6.5 billion ($5 billion) real estate firm plans on building up its use of proprietary cloud-based asset management and transaction software, using data science and machine learning to help source, manage and execute opportune transactions across the U.S. and Europe for its grocery and office REITS, asset management and private equity businesses.

Previously Edgar had been at United Technologies, where he worked in the firm’s Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance and Space . . .
