Illinois pension adds real estate debt funds

The $22 billion State Universities Retirement System of Illinois made three new alternative investment commitments in March and April, totaling $130 million, according to public documents.

A $30 million commitment was made to the Newport Capital Fund III, a closed-end, non-core real estate fund managed by Newport Capital Partners. The allocation follows a previous commitment to the Newport Capital Fund I in 2012 along with two co-investment opportunities in 2018 and 2019.
