San Francisco pension CIO to join clean energy company

San Francisco Employees' William Coaker is joining TAE Technologies as the clean energy company’s first chief investment officer on Aug. 3.

TAE’s focus has been on providing safe, cost-effective fusion power as quickly as possible and with the cleanest environmental profile. The company has raised $880 million in private capital to date.

Coaker spent the last seven years as the chief investment officer of the San Francisco Employees’ Retirement System, overseeing the $34 billion pension fund system’s growth and broadening exposure to alternative investments.
