Interest in equity hedge funds grows as more outperform the S&P in H1

Investor inflows into hedge funds surged in the second quarter, and even as the stock market has hit new highs the level of interest in equity sector-oriented hedged strategies continues to grow.

According to BofA Capital Strategy Group internal data, allocator searches for hedge funds were up 82% in Q2 2021 vs the year-ago period as investors showed interest in sector-specific equity long/short as even generalist equity long/short searches rose 18% quarter over quarter.

Globally BofA officials said that equity long/short posted the strongest gains of 6.6% year . . .
