The University of Minnesota Foundation in Minneapolis reported an annual gain of 38.7% for the year ending June 30, 2021.
The returns far exceed the $3.4 billion endowment’s goal of 10.6%, but further highlight that for institutional investors across the board returns have been the highest on record and driven largely by equity markets and private equity funds.
The trustees didn’t break down returns by asset class but did say in an annual update that returns were “due primarily to exceptionally strong returns in private equity during the past year . . .
