The youth-focused non-profit Phyt Cares will be holding its annual fundraiser next Wednesday evening, Nov. 3, at 6 p.m. EDT.
The event will be held at Fonda Boricua on 106th Street in Manhattan with a Zoom presentation featuring the unique program that benefits low-income youth in New York, Puerto Rico and globally with educational and physical fitness activities geared to promote resilience and community health.
Corporate sponsors include: BlueClover, Crawford Lake Capital Management, Eisner Amper, Falcon Edge Capital, Longlead Capital Partners, Maximus Long Short Equity Management, Measure 8 Venture Partners, MJE Advisors, Socium Fund Services, Star Mountain Capital and Symphony Financial Partners.
Alternatives Watch is also proud to be a partner for the event. Phyt Cares was founded as a tax-exempt non-profit arm of Phyt Gym. Founded by Puerto Rican Jonas Serrano and co-founded by Elana Margulies Snyderman, the group has supported a number of regional organizations.
“Phyt Cares would like to thank so many generous supporters for making our impact possible,” said Margulies-Snyderman. “We are proud to align with so many prominent organizations and of our immense impact we have had on their respective populations through our fitness programs.”
In the New York/New Jersey area, organizations receiving support from Phyt Cares include Kool Kids Passaic; Chess in Schools (NYC); Isaac Newton Middle School in East Harlem; and YAI, an organization which serves children and young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
“For the last nearly two years since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, our mission has never been more urgent to empower global communities to stay active and healthy and demonstrate resilience during these challenging times,” said Serrano. “In addition, during the pandemic, given the challenges many businesses have faced, Phyt Cares is proud to have extended its mission to provide a platform for young entrepreneurs to grow their companies.”
In Puerto Rico, three main organizations he received support. They are Team La Perla, a group that empowers youth via combat sports; Complejo Correccional Bayamón, which helps incarcerated women; and Rooster’s Café, which is Phyt Care’s own café that supports the Afro Puerto Rican community through the purchase of produce and job creation. Phyt Cares donated fitness equipment to both Team La Perla and Complejo Correccional Bayamón.
