University of Pittsburgh names CIO

The University of Pittsburgh appointed Jeffer Choudhry as its new chief investment officer, slated to receive board approval on Feb. 25.

Choudhry will be responsible for oversight and management of the university’s $5.6 billion endowment fund. According to the school’s annual report, the endowment had roughly $2.4 billion in alternative investments, including real assets as of 2020.

He replaces Gregory Schuler, who stepped down as CIO last year to pursue other opportunities was replaced by Paul Lawrence who served as acting CIO in addition to his permanent duties as treasurer.
