HarbourVest hires for product innovation

The $92 billion private market specialist HarbourVest Partners has tapped Bryce Klempner as a managing director who will be a member of the firm’s investment solutions and strategy teams focusing on new product innovation and strategic growth.

Klempner’s background is within private equity and ESG and sustainable investing having worked at McKinsey as a partner and co-head of its Global Institutional Investor practice. In that role he advised pensions, sovereign wealth funds, endowments, foundations and family offices as well as private equity firms and other types of investors. He co-led the ESG and sustainable investment and led the firm’s global research on private markets.

“Bryce’s deep experience in private markets and advising a wide variety of institutional investors will further enable HarbourVest to help our clients pursue innovative approaches to achieving their investment goals,” said John Toomey, managing director of HarbourVest Partners.

Last September, HarbourVest launched its first direct lending fund, which followed an opportunistic credit fund fundraise in 2021.

HarbourVest’s global platform includes private equity, private credit, and infrastructure and real assets through primary fund investments, secondary investments and direct co-investments, in commingled funds and separately managed accounts. The 190-strong global team has committed more than $49 billion to newly formed funds, completed $40 billion in secondary purchases and has invested over $27 billion directly in operating companies.
