Nuveen specialist unit Churchill Asset Management hired Bennett Love to the newly created role of principal and head of fund finance.
Love previously spent 12 years at Wells Fargo with a focus on various segments of private credit. Most recently he served as director of corporate debt finance, where he was responsible for relationship origination and management of middle market private market managers, as well as leading the structuring and execution of various types of lending facilities and CLO transactions.
He will be working out of Churchill’s Charlotte, N.C. office, reporting to CFO Shai Vichness. Love is charged with the development of the firm’s overall leverage strategy, as well as sourcing, execution and monitoring of financing arrangements across the platform. His focus is on all forms of bilateral and syndicated lending facilities, as well as public and private debt solutions, including CLOs.
“As someone that we’ve worked very closely with since our affiliation with Nuveen in 2015, Ben has been integral in the structuring of several fund financing facilities and CLOs for Churchill,” said Vichness in a statement. He added that with the growth of the Churchill platform and strategic use of leverage across various fund strategies, the firm was always looking to optimize its financing arrangements in order to drive returns for investors.
With $37 billion in committed capital under management across its platform, Churchill currently has well over a dozen accounts and growing that use leverage (including commingled funds, publicly-registered products and CLOs).
