According to fund administrator Citco, hedge funds delivered positive results at the end of the fourth quarter -- but more importantly, the industry saw the busiest quarter on record when it comes to trading volume as volatility picked up going into 2022.
Trade volumes climbed above 500,000 for the first time, reaching 534,839 last quarter, far surpassing the previous peak in the first quarter of 2021. This is a 24% jump from trade volumes reported for the same quarter in 2020.
