Heading into the second week of war in Ukraine, there are few certainties for alternative funds or for investors. It is too early to provide with any degree of certainty an analysis of the impact of the war overall on performance. However, a few things are clear.
First, fallout from the war on alternative funds will mainly depend on the strategy. Some will face a catastrophic effect due to exposure to Russia and/or Ukraine. For example, VTB Capital Investment Management has shuttered its two Luxembourg-domiciled UCITS funds “due to the current geopolitical situation”.
