Dechert LLP announced this week the addition of an experienced private equity mergers-and-acquisitions attorney as a partner in its San Francisco corporate and securities group.
The new partner, Nicole Macarchuk, is the former general counsel and chief operating officer of Angel Island Capital, a multi-strategy credit boutique, also in San Francisco. She has had plenty of experience with the alternative asset management industry. Before Angel Island she was managing director and general counsel for public markets for KKR.

Macarchuk is also a member of the board of Heluna Health, a California based nonprofit devoted to empowering health researchers and organizations to “become the best at what they do.”
She is the sixth partner in the last year to join Dechert’s San Francisco office, because the firm has decided to beef up its corporate, litigation, and financial services in California. The other five new partners to arise from that beefing-up are: corporate governance litigator Rick Horvath, litigation partner Joshua Hess, private equity M&A partner Jonathan Stott, private fund formation partner Sonia Gioseffi, and former federal prosecutor Hartley West.
Two years ago, Dechert welcomed a product liability trial team led by Kimberly Branscome and Jay Bhimani to the Los Angeles office, and it brought in an intellectual property litigator, Jennifer Swan, to Silicon Valley.
Dechert has 22 offices around the world. Its private equity practice advises 300 PE and other private investment clients.
