The Texas Teacher Retirement System in Austin continues to build up its alternatives investment portfolio with investments in real estate and private equity ranging from $240 million to $8 million last month.
The majority of the capital was put to work in U.S. buyout funds managed by mostly existing firms represented in the $34 billion private equity portfolio of the $201 billion retirement system. Two TPG funds were selected, TPG Healthcare Partners II ($60 million) and TPG Partners IX ($240 million).
