Roughly 20% of the fresh capital institutional investors poured into alternative investment strategies went to real assets, real estate and infrastructure mandates, according to the April 2022 AW Research Investor Scorecard.
Overall, allocators put $5.2 billion to work across private equity, credit, hedge funds and real estate/real assets/infrastructure asset classes. The moves are indicative with allocators looking for a safe haven from rising rates and market volatility as over $1 billion went to real assets broadly, including infrastructure investments.
