The $101 billion Virginia Retirement System (VRS) continues to fold additional capital into private markets with sizable allocations going to managers across private equity, credit, real assets and hedge funds.
According to a transaction log filed at the VRS’ trustees meeting this month, private equity managers saw inflows of over $1.6 billion. Most of the activity was with large private equity managers investing across diverse buyout strategies, with the exception being seeding firm Matrix Partners XII ($40 million). Interestingly the drawdown time frames for the allocations ranged from five to six years.
