StepStone Real Estate, the $11 billion real estate arm of StepStone Group, hired Yasmine Uzmez as a managing director on its business development team in New York.
She has been active in the real estate industry for nearly two decades. Previously she has held senior positions at real estate private placement firms Park Madison Partners and Shelter Rock Capital Advisors. She founded in 2016 her own real estate capital raising and advisory boutique Oderoche.
“I have known Yasmine professionally for over a decade and have always thought her unique background in professional services, business development and real estate private equity would make her a great addition to our team,” said Jeff Giller, head of StepStone Real Estate.
Uzmez joins as a product specialist and a senior member of StepStone’s business development team, which incudes approximately 30 professionals around the world covering multiple asset classes. The team is focused on offering institutional clients access to funds, secondaries, recapitalizations and co-investments broadly.
A dual citizen of Belgium and the U.S., Uzmez is a native French speaker. She began her career at J.P. Morgan in Belgium and Gemini Consulting in Paris and later joined CBRE’s consulting group in New York.
“As a native European, joining an exceptional, multifaceted, global private markets firm like StepStone is a great fit for me,” said Uzmez in a press statement. “Introducing SRE’s funds, separate account and advisory capabilities to the institutional investor market and helping to lead business development project management across SRE is an exciting opportunity to apply my decade and a half of experience in real estate capital markets.”
