President Biden appointed Marquette Associates Managing Director Kweku Obed to the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation Advisory Committee this week.
The committee is set to advise the agency, which oversees private sector defined benefit pension plans, on investment policy and other matters.
Obed is set to represent the interests of employers, officials said. Other committee members include newly appointed chair Jeanmarie Grisi, head of global pensions at Nokia, where she oversees the investments for the Nokia pension and post-retirement benefit assets totaling over $35 billion.
Alternatives Watch caught up with Obed in early 2021, upon the release of his book on financial literacy.
Obed already serves on Chicago-based Marquette’s board of directors. His is responsible for working with defined benefit and defined contribution clients on asset allocation, performance measurement and analysis, investment manager search and investment policy development.
