Conan Crum has joined Pine River Capital Management as a portfolio manager in a new role where he will focus on U.S. and UK relative value inflation strategies.
Based in the firm’s Minnetonka, Minnesota, offices, he will work closely with Matthew Abroe, who oversees the $250 million firm’s inflation strategies.
“Conan brings an incredibly strong background managing relative value and inflation-linked strategies, and his appointment reflects our conviction in the potential of the firm’s products and growth trajectory,” said Brian Taylor, CEO and CIO of Pine River. “I am confident that Conan will be an invaluable asset as we continue working to scale our offerings and drive value for our investors.”
Crum had spent nine years as a portfolio manager focused on inflation-relative value trading at Garda Capital Partners (formerly Black River Asset Management). Prior to Garda, Crum had been a portfolio manager in BlackRock’s global inflation-linked bond business and worked in its risk and quantitative analysis group.
“Global investor demand for inflation-linked strategies continues to grow, particularly in the current macroeconomic environment, and Pine River is well-positioned to capitalize on this persistent appetite with its differentiated offerings,” said Crum. “I am excited to work with the talented Pine River team and look forward to contributing to the firm’s continued success.”
