Grange Johnson joined OCIO firm Appomattox Advisory as managing director and deputy chief investment officer — a newly created role at the New York-based firm.
Johnson will focus on portfolio construction, manager research and business development. He has homed in on expertise within event driven and credit strategies over three decades, and has founded and led alternative investment firms, including a distressed/special situations fund manager.
“Having known Grange for over 20 years, he is a welcome addition to the Appomattox leadership team, as we further expand our strategic footprint,” commented Susan Webb, Appomattox founder and chief investment officer.
Previously, Johnson served as managing director of investment banking at BTIG. He also was managing director at GAMCO Investors where he built a distressed securities business, and earlier as a research analyst at Perry Partners.
“I am eager to leverage my deep industry relationships and experience in the private credit space on behalf of Appomattox, especially as we believe this asset class is positioned to potentially outperform most alternatives,” said Johnson.
