- Insurtech-focused venture capital firm IA Capital Group announced a promotion and two hires. Christy Lane, formerly an advisory partner, joined the firm’s core team as a venture partner. Bob Sollmann and Dave O’Brien joined the firm as advisory partners. Sollmann was most recently a senior advisor in Accenture’s North American Insurance practice and former EVP at MetLife, while O’Brien is former CEO of both Agreement Express and Zywave.
- AE Industrial Partners added Brian Hickey and Zach Appleman to its capital formation team. Hickey, who was named managing director, joins from Brookfield Asset Management and previously held senior fundraising roles at Clinton Group, Citibank and Deutsche Bank, among others. Appleman, who was named vice president, joins from SROA Capital and was previously a member of the capital formation teams at ISAM and Pomona Capital. AE Industrial Partners, based in Boca Raton, Fla., specializes in sectors including aerospace, defense & government services, space, power & utility services.
Credit
- Michael Leitner joined Stonepeak as a senior managing director. Leitner, who served most recently as co-head of BlackRock’s Direct Lending and Special Situations investment practice, brings over 21 years of experience in the credit space. He will be based in Stonepeak’s New York office, taking a leading role in the continued buildout of the firm’s credit investing capabilities.
- Alternative credit manager Pemberton Asset Management appointed Niamh Whooley as managing director and head of sustainable investing. Whooley was most recently global head of fixed income ESG research at Goldman Sachs Asset Management, where she worked closely with investments teams across asset classes on ESG integration and with global clients to develop investment solutions to help meet their sustainability objectives while maintaining regulatory alignment (read more).

- Tony Lissuzzo joined Callan’s Chicago consulting team as a senior vice president and investment consultant, reporting to Ann O’Bradovich, senior vice president and manager of the Chicago office. Lissuzzo brings more than 20 years of experience to the firm, having worked with defined benefit plans, endowments and foundations. Most recently he was at Cambridge Associates (read more).
Hedge Funds
- Multi-manager hedge fund Millennium Management hired Gregory Starikovsky as a senior portfolio manager in New York. Starikovsky previously spent more than six years at global multi-strategy hedge fund firm Balyasny Asset Management. There, he was most recently a senior analyst focused on financials and fintech, prior to which he had been an analyst, having joined Balyasny in early 2016 (read more).
Real Estate
- Brennan Investment Group promoted Rob Gage from to senior vice president managing principal. Gage will lead the Chicago-based firm’s acquisition and development activities in the booming North and South Carolina markets. He will be based in Greenville, S.C.
Service Providers
- Michael Yarian joined Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) as international business head of sales and trading, and regional head of sales and trading for the Americas. Yarian was most recently the global head of Flow Rates Trading and the head of Americas Global Debt Markets at HSBC; previously, he spent 20 years at Barclays in various leadership positions. He will be responsible for the development and execution of the business strategy and for management of risk for the International Sales and Trading business; in his Americas role, he will work to foster closer coordination across Bank and Securities entities and strategically grow the Global Markets business in the region. He will be based in New York.
- McDermott Will & Emery added Jonathan Ching as partner to its Transactions Practice Group in New York. Ching’s practice focuses on structured transactions involving derivatives, commodities and both digital and traditional asset classes. In his new role, he will rely on his in-house experience at top banks and investment institutions to provide practical and strategic investment advice to clients, particularly in the commodities, fintech and structured finance sectors.
- Appian Capital Advisory named Ignacio Bustamante as head of Base Metals. He will begin his role at Appian’s London office on Aug. 28 after stepping down as CEO of Hochschild Mining. Appian is an investment advisor to long-term value-focused private capital funds that invest exclusively in mining and mining-related companies. Bustamante’s role will include overseeing Appian’s operations and growth strategy across all base metals, with responsibility for acquisitions, development and operations.
- TS Imagine added Stephanie Cheung and An Hoong to its Asia Pacific team. Both executives bring highly relevant experience from previous roles at Enfusion. Cheung joins as a sales director and is expected to play a key role in TS Imagine’s growth and business development plans in the APAC market. Hoong joins the firm’s Account Management team, where she will oversee technical account management and support to clients in Hong Kong across trading, portfolio management and risk management. TS Imagine provides a SaaS platform for integrated electronic front-office trading, portfolio management, and financial risk management tools to buy-side and sell-side organizations.
