Timotheus Osnabrug and Weston Wilkinson have joined Investcorp’s Strategic Capital Group, which acquires minority equity stakes in established, high growth mid-sized private market asset managers.
As investment partners, the pair will handle the sourcing, evaluation and execution of new investments, reporting to Anthony Maniscalco, managing partner and head of Investcorp’s Strategic Capital Group.
“We are extremely proud of the success that our GP staking platform has enjoyed since its inception in 2019,” said Rishi Kapoor, co-CEO of Investcorp. “We remain excited by our growth prospects as we continue to build out the team and identify talented mid-market GPs to partner with.”
The group at the $50 billion firm now manages over $1 billion and has closed on 11 investments since its launch in 2019. The platform has partnered with GPs across buyout, structured equity, private credit and real asset strategies.
One of those investments was in 2021 with middle-market special situations credit specialist Marblegate Asset Management.
“We are excited to have Tim and Wes on our team. Tim brings extensive direct private equity investment experience as well as a broad GP network particularly in Europe,” said Maniscalco. “Wes offers our team significant experience sourcing and executing GP stake investments and a broad network across the private market landscape. We look forward to their contributions as we continue to build out and expand our differentiated platform.”
Osnabrug joins Investcorp in New York at the end of June. He most recently had been at Bridgepoint, a North American business services and healthcare direct private equity investment platform. Before that he spent 12 years at KKR in several roles including buyout, growth and infrastructure investing in Europe, the U.S. and Brazil.
Wilkinson will also be on the New York team, joining later this year. He was most recently co-CIO and head of investments at Azimut Alternative Capital Partners, which is also a GP staking investment business. At Azimut, he sourced and executed multiple GP staking investments. Before that he was a director at Perella Weinberg Partners, where he was a senior member of the firm’s asset management business focused on corporate development.
