Anne Marie Fleurbaaij joined Makena Capital as managing director, co-head of marketable investments.
In the role, Fleurbaaij will be responsible for manager selection and portfolio construction for Makena’s investments in listed equity asset classes, including long-only and long/short equity strategies. She will work closely with Jackson Garton, deputy CIO and head of marketable investments.
Most recently, Fleurbaaij was a managing director at University of Cambridge Investments in the U.K. Prior to this she held senior equities portfolio management and research roles at Morgan Stanley and GIC. She is also co-founder of Girls are Investors (GAIN) in the UK, a non-profit that seeks to inform and inspire young women to get involved in investment careers via role models.
Mackena is a Menlo Park, Calif.-based $18 billion OCIO that manages strategies in private equity and venture capital, hedge funds, equities, fixed income and real assets. The firm was founded in 2005 by endowment and foundation executives including team members from Stanford University. Michael McCaffrey founded the firm following his five-year stint as CEO of Stanford Management Company. At the investment helm is CIO Larry Kochard, who has led investment teams at UVIMCO and Georgetown University.
