Dallas-based national multifamily investment platform S2 Capital (S2) welcomed Mark Halford as vice president, special situations.
Halford joins from Hillview Capital Partners, prior to which he was involved in over $10 billion of distressed and opportunistic investing during a decade-long tenure at Lone Star Funds. His experience at Lone Star Capital included winning a bid for much of failed Anglo-Irish Bank’s multi-billion dollar portfolio of commercial properties and mortgage loans.
Halford will work with S2’s investments team on opportunistic and distressed acquisitions through the firm’s commingled fund vehicles. “Our latest fund strategy is focusing on distressed and opportunistic acquisitions across the capital stack, including various credit investing strategies, and I’m confident Mark will provide valuable support and expertise,” said S2 Capital Founder and CEO Scott Everett.
S2, founded in 2012, targets value-add, opportunistic and distressed investments, achieving about $10 billion in transaction volume so far. S2 has acquired about 46,000 units through 134 acquisitions, with a focus in the U.S. Sunbelt region, where job and population growth are outpacing the national average, leading to significant renter demand.
