Industry veterans Gero Wittemann and Francesco Barosi announced the launch of New Private Equity (NPE), a — well, new private equity firm with a focus on B2B software and technology services.
Wittemann was a partner at Hg for four years; prior to that he was a managing director at CVC Capital Partners since 2004. Barosi was a managing director at AlixPartners for 20 years, leading the global consulting firm’s innovation and technology, media, and telecom services.
The two co-founders have been acquainted for over 10 years, and they were driven to devise a novel approach to incorporate technology into the very investment process. To that end, NPE entered a strategic partnership with Palantir Technologies to develop a proprietary software-based end-to-end workflow dubbed New Private Equity Control Tower (NPECT) that gathers and analyzes data from various sources to inform its decision-making.
“We believe our software-enabled and data-driven approach will contribute to building better businesses and creating enhanced investment returns, to the benefit of our partner companies and our limited partners,” Wittemann said.
The Miami-based firm expects its data-driven approach to minimize risk and maximize returns regardless of market ups-and-downs.
