First Eagle Alternative Credit hired Larry Holzenthaler as managing director, portfolio manager and senior alternatives strategist in New York.
He reports to Mike Herzig, senior managing director and head of business development at First Eagle Alternative Credit. In this newly created role, Holzenthaler will be responsible for day-to-day implementation and management for several of the $21 billion firm’s strategies for the direct lending and tradeable credit platform. He will work alongside the portfolio management team and Chief Investment Officer James Fellows. He will also partner with First Eagle’s U.S. Wealth Solutions team and other channels.
Previously, Holzenthaler was a managing director and investment strategist at Nuveen Asset Management, where he handled investments across the corporate capital structure, including senior loans, high-yield corporates and convertibles. He had been with Nuveen since 2005 and is the second Nuveen veteran to jump ship to First Eagle as former Head of Municipals John Miller is set to come aboard on Jan. 2, 2024 in leading the new high yield municipal credit team.
At Nuveen, Holzenthaler worked with investors to illustrate investment themes and provide market information, as well as assisting the product management team and creating content for credit products. He worked with a variety of client channels, from institutional and consultant relationships to retail distribution.
