Blackstone’s new vice chairman of Strategy and Client Relations, Thomas R. Nides, brings a CV packed with accomplishments in both the private and public sectors.
Nides had a longstanding relationship with Morgan Stanley, serving as chief operating officer from 2005-2010 and as managing director and vice chairman from 2013 to 2021 — a role he left to serve as the U.S. Ambassador to Israel.
Nides’ record in public service includes an appointment as Deputy Secretary of State and Chief Operating Officer of the U.S. State Department from 2011-2013; in the private sector, he served as senior vice president of human resources at Fannie Mae (1998-2001) and chief administrative officer at Credit Suisse (2001-2004).
In his new role at Blackstone, Nides will play a supporting role in strategic initiatives and special projects across the firm, in addition to handling senior client relationships at the global level.
“We are still in the early innings of our global expansion and believe he will be a tremendous asset to our people and clients,” said Blackstone Co-Founder, Chairman and CEO Stephen A. Schwarzman in a statement welcoming Nides to the firm.
